Home Updates Under $100

Whether your plan is to stay in your home for three years or thirty years, it is important to keep your home up to date for various reasons. Aside from the improved livability and comfort, an updated home is likely to get a higher offer compared to one that is in need of renovations. Home upgrades can be costly and you are not always guaranteed a high rate of return on investment (ROI). Oftentimes sellers are looking for ways to improve the appearance of their home, or minor upgrades.

Maybe you are not interested in selling your home any time soon, these upgrades can also benefit homeowners. Let’s take a look at a few ways to freshen up the interior of your home for just under $100.

  1. A fresh coat of paint is an easy and quick way to give your home a quick facelift. I actually enjoy painting, I know that is somewhat strange, but I find painting to be relaxing! Do not forget to also add a fresh coat of paint to your trim and baseboards.

  2. Light fixtures are one of my favorite ways to update spaces! I love Amazon’s options for lighting, they are usually very economical and easy to hang. Make sure to double check the reviews before purchasing. I love this farmhouse light fixture for a foyer or entryway! Add it to your cart Here

  3. Rugs are another way to quickly spruce up a room. A quick warning, the cost of rugs can range greatly, and they are highly addictive! I have found Home Depot to have a great selection of rugs that will not break the bank. If you catch it at the prefect time, you can find area rugs under $100! Like this gray modern print!

  4. If you have a fireplace, here is a quick update, cover the tile on the fireplace face with a stone overlay! We used this AirStone product from Home Depot to update our fireplace after moving in and it was a quick weekend project. This product has held up great, six years later and looks just as good as it did on day one!

  5. Shiplap! I remember years ago putting up shiplap praying it would not be so trendy that I would be tired of it in a couple of years. Well, here I am, almost ten years later and I love shiplap as much today as I did then. We all know the price of building materials continues to climb. We found a way to take plywood and cut it into 6” pieces and make a faux “shiplap” wall. What an easy way to update a room, or maybe even just add an accent wall!

Whole home renovations can be costly, but there are alternatives for updating your home. I hope you were able to take away some ideas to freshen up your home regardless of your budget. If you happen to try one of these suggestions, leave a picture in the comments. I would love to see how your project turned out! Or, if you have an idea that you have tried, share with us!
