Bathroom Updates Under $100

Trying to decide if you should remodel your bathroom or not? According to Zillow (Link), bathroom remodels can range from around $19,000 up to about $61,000 and with a return on investment (ROI) up to an estimated 70%. Like with any remodel, keeping your renovation budget lower is likely to produce a higher ROI. It is also important to keep in mind that your update should refrain from custom features and should be kept as neutral as possible for resell.

Not interested in a bathroom remodel? Let’s talk about a few quick ways to update your bathroom without a complete renovation.

  1. When we moved into our home, the bathroom floors were a peach colored tile. The entire home was decorated in a modern farmhouse theme, with a lot of gray and white colors throughout. The peach colored tile did not match but we were not in a position to be able to remove the tile and lay a new floor. After some research, we decided to try peel and stick vinyl planks. We laid it ourselves, and at under $2 a square foot we were able to do both bathrooms for less than $100 each! You would be surprised to know those vinyl planks lasted for five years! I cannot remember exactly which brand we used but this looks exactly like the one we had in both bathrooms.

  2. I wanted to also update our countertop and was looking for an option that was unique from granite or quartz, and something that would fit our budget at the time. I was able to talk my husband into using wood boards! We used three “sandwiched” together and cut out a hole for the sink. We used a dark stain to finish the look.

  3. After the wood countertop was completed, I loved the look and thought it would be cool to use wood to trim the builder-grade mirror. We used epoxy to glue to wood trim around the mirror and I white-washed it for a rustic finish.

  4. Did you know that for less than $100 you can find lighting fixtures and faucets on Amazon? Even if you do nothing else to your bathroom, updating your light fixtures and faucets will make a huge difference. I love this faucet for only $34! This light fixture is only $47!

  5. I saved my favorite for last! Our peach bathroom floor tile was matched by peach tile on the shower surround. Like with the flooring, we were not in a financial position to be able to remove the tile and replace it with something that matched the bathroom. After some research, I decided to attempt to paint the the tile with chalk paint. Yes, you read that correctly…I painted the shower tile! Home Depot has Rust-Oleum chalk paint for around $63 and there are various colors to select the perfect shade for your bathroom. They also have a sealer that you will need to use after painting the tile. The paint lasted a lot longer than I originally anticipated it to last, five years and it had only started to flake off in a few areas. I highly recommend painting the shower tile if you are looking for an easy way to update your tile.
