Low Stress Staging Tips
Let’s talk about the showing you have scheduled this weekend! I know stress immediately fills your mind when you think about your “to-do list”. But first remember, your home will sell itself, with just a little help from you to stage it properly. With just these few quick tips, your home will be show ready in no time!
Curb appeal is your home’s first impression! Start with the outside of your home when you begin staging. Check trees and shrubs for trimming, cut the grass, and accent with colorful flowers. Flowers can be added in pots around the yard, this will keep them easy to maintain and you can move them as needed. Declutter all porches, walkways, and driveways.
Inside your home, quickly scan each room and declutter! A good tip to keep in mind, if you will not need it in the next three months, go ahead and pack it up. Try to limit any personal items that are out.
Add fresh flowers! I like to have fresh flowers in my kitchen, dining and living room. Not only are they vibrant, they also will add a soft and fresh aroma to the room. Flowers are also nice in bedrooms and bathrooms. Nothing too big, a small vase with one or two stems is all that is needed.
Natural and bright light brings a lot of energy to the room. Open all blinds and curtains before the showing. Also, remember to turn on all lights, including lamps and under counter lighting.
Quickly clean each room! I like to keep Clorox wipes under the counter in each bathroom and the kitchen. Just before you leave the house, quickly wipe down the counters, faucets, and the toilet. Check the hand towels, shut toilet lids, and leave shower curtains open. If you have little ones, do not forget to wipe down door knobs and light switches!
Focus on your entryway. Buyers will make a decision within seconds of first entering your home, let’s make that first impression positive! While your home is on the market, stay on top of the daily chores that often slip. Take out the trash, do a load of laundry, and pick up around the home every day!
Lastly, check the temperature of your home. Keep the inside of your home comfortable for any potential buyers.
Regardless of the area in your home, remember less is always more! Keeping your home clean, crisp, and airy will maximize the overall appeal.
