There are many great tips and checklists to make help you prepare; however, below I have shared some of my top suggestions to help you prepare for this year’s hurricane season.

Check with your homeowner’s insurance regarding your coverage.
Inquire about flood insurance.
Have an evacuation plan in place.
Estimate what additional living expenses would look like for your family. Should you have to evacuate or shelter temporarily, what expenses would you incur?
Have necessary sandbags for low lying areas.
Remove and secure loose items throughout your yard. Do not forget to check trees for dying or broken branches that could fall during wind and excessive rain.
Do not wait until the last minute to prepare! Make sure your family is prepared to take action when needed.
Do you have a hurricane kit? There can be times that we do not need to evaluate and can shelter at home. During those times, you could loose power and water. Think about creating a hurricane kit to keep your family stocked on essential items. Here are a couple of items to consider for your kit.
